Ram Pothineni and filmmaker Puri Jagganath to come together again for ‘iSmart Shankar’ sequel
After delivering a debacle Liger with Vijay Devrakonda, filmmaker Puri Jagannath is ready to once again unite with Ram Pothineni for the sequel of their blockbuster hit iSmart Shankar.
The masala action film titled ‘Double iSmart’ will be released in theatres on Maha Shivaratri,8 March, 2024. The makers made the formal announcement of the film and release date on social media by presenting a new title poster. The title poster for ‘Double iSmart’ depicts trishul with bloodstains.

Puri will also co-produce it with Charmme Kaur under their own label, Puri Connects. Another intriguing aspect of this sequel is that the producers intend to make it a pan-Indian film, therefore it will be released in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi.
The rest of the cast and crew details have been kept under wraps by the film’s creators. So it will be interesting to see if the makers keep the female leads from iSmart Shankar – Nidhhi Agerwal and Nabha Natesh – or if they hunt for a new female lead this time. There has also been no word on when the film’s production will begin.

Given that the film’s release date is only 10 months away, it’s safe to assume that production will begin shortly.
Ram Pothineni was last seen in a Telugu–Tamil bilingual action-thriller ‘The Warrior’ (2022), which turned out to be a huge box office failure.
About iSmart Shankar: iSmart Shankar is a Telugu-language science fiction masala film written and directed by Puri Jagannadh. The film, which was released on July 18, 2019, received mixed reviews from critics but was a tremendous commercial success at the box office. The film earned Rs. 80 crore nett at the worldwide box office despite being made on a Rs. 20 crore budget.
