Jiah Khan sucide case: Sooraj Pancholi may be hiding details says Psychologist

In a recent development in the Jiah Khan case, a CFSL scientific officer, a clinical psychologist conducted a forensic psychological assessment on actor Sooraj Pancholi. The officer told the special CBI court that his interview with her appeared to be incomplete and fabricated on relevant issues. Implying that he was concealing relevant information about the actual reasons behind his girlfriend, actor Jiah Khan’s, alleged suicide.

Sooraj is currently on trial for abetting the 2013 suicide. During her cross-examination by defence lawyer Prashant Patil, she admitted that she had formed her final opinion based solely on the 12 questions posed by the investigating officer, but she denied that her assessment was false and fabricated to support the CBI.”It is not correct to say that I finalised the said report after confirmation with the investigating officer,” the witness said.

During her cross-examination by special public prosecutor Manoj Chaladan, she stated that during the 2015 interview at the CSFL office, she asked Sooraj if he was concealing the actual content of the last conversation because the breakdown of the relationship could not occur in a single day. “On that question he gave an evasive response and became silent with bent head. Sooraj Pancholi was hiding details of last conservation with Nafisa or Zia (sic), that maybe caused her death or suicide,” the witness said.

She explained that because she needed to know Jiah’s mental state prior to the incident, she asked Sooraj about his last conservation with her.

During her cross examination by Patil, the woman stated that she learned from Sooraj that Jiah had experienced childhood trauma and, in response to a separate question, agreed that if a mental health patient is not treated on time, the situation may deteriorate. She also agreed that knowing one’s “psychological state of mind” required knowledge of one’s childhood trauma and relationship with an immediate blood relative.

The handwritten notes, according to the witness, revealed Jiah’s extreme negative thoughts and broken relationship with her partner, which may have contributed to her suicide.
