Box Office Surprise: John Abraham’s Vedaa Outperforms Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein on Independence Day

The John Abraham and Sharvari starrer Vedaa has delivered modest box office results on Independence Day. Early estimates indicate that the Nikkhil Advani-directed film has earned approximately Rs. 6 to 7 crores on its opening day. This figure exceeds expectations based on advance bookings, primarily due to a surge in walk-in audiences taking advantage of the holiday. Notably, Vedaa has performed better in mass markets compared to urban centers, a trend attributed to its action genre appeal. A significant achievement for Vedaa is that it has outperformed Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein on its first day.

In contrast, Khel Khel Mein, the Akshay Kumar-led comedy, has garnered around Rs. 5.25 to 5.75 crores on its opening day, marking one of the lowest Independence Day openings for the actor. While the film has fared better in urban areas, its overall performance has fallen short of expectations. The surprise lies in the fact that Khel Khel Mein opened lower than Vedaa, an outcome that has stunned industry insiders who did not anticipate John Abraham surpassing Akshay Kumar at the box office.

The results from both films highlight the unpredictable nature of audience preferences, especially during a holiday period. While Vedaa capitalized on the action genre and attracted a solid number of walk-in viewers, Khel Khel Mein struggled despite its star power. As the box office race continues, both films will need to rely on word-of-mouth and further audience engagement to improve their standings. Overall, the opening day figures reflect a competitive landscape that keeps the industry on its toes. While both the films have gained decent ratings, and if you check the ratings at Twitter, the trade pundit – Taran Adarsh has given the same as under:
