Box Office Milestones: Gadar 2 Joins the 300 Crore Club, while OMG 2 Set to Enter the 100 Crore Club

The box office is booming with back-to-back successes. Every week, there seems to be a new hit film. This is great news for the theatrical business. In July, Hollywood had a string of hits, with Oppenheimer, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, and Barbie all scoring well. Bollywood joined the party with Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, which also became a hit.

On August 11, Gadar 2 and OMG 2 released together and have both been successful. This is reminiscent of the 2001 box office, when Gadar and Lagaan released together and both became hits. Gadar 2 has emerged as an all-time blockbuster, while OMG 2 is a clear hit. Both films have been doing well in multiplexes and select single screens.

Gadar 2 has had a record-breaking run at the box office, entering the 300 crore club in just 8 days. The film opened to a massive ₹40.10 crore, and then went on to have two days of half-century collections. It has been collecting consistently since then, with a second Friday collection of ₹20.50 crore, a number that no other film has managed this year except for Gadar 2 itself and Pathaan. Gadar 2 is currently at ₹305.13 crore, and is well on its way to entering the 400 crore club, possibly as early as next week.

OMG 2 is nearing its 100 crore club entry, with ₹91.08 crore already in its kitty. The film did well in its first week despite facing stiff competition from Gadar 2. In fact, it surpassed the lifetime collections of the first instalment of OMG within a week. Now, it needs to maintain its stability in the second week to reach the ₹135 crore mark. If it can do that, it will be a major success for Akshay Kumar, who has around 4-5 more films lined up for release. This is a good sign for Kumar’s upcoming films, as it shows that he is still a bankable star.
