Bigg Boss 18: PETA Appeals to Salman Khan Over Donkey’s Welfare in Controversial House

PETA’s Letter: Concerns for Animal Welfare
The letter articulates serious concerns for the donkey’s wellbeing, stating, “We are inundated with complaints from the public who are deeply troubled by the donkey’s presence in the Bigg Boss house. Their concerns are valid and must not be disregarded.” PETA emphasizes that this issue extends beyond public discomfort; it fundamentally relates to animal welfare.“ As one of India’s most prominent figures and the host of Bigg Boss, you have the ability to set a compassionate precedent,” PETA implores Khan. “We respectfully request that you use your influence to encourage the producers to eliminate the use of animals as props for entertainment.”
The Ethical Argument: Stress and Confusion on Set
PETA further elaborates on the distress animals endure in the hectic environment of a television set. “Being prey animals, donkeys are inherently anxious. The lights, sounds, and chaos typical of show sets can be confusing and frightening for them. It is apparent to viewers that a show set is no place for an animal, especially when witnessing the donkey confined in a small space amid waste,” the letter continues.
Advocate Sadavarte and the Donkey’s Future
The organization has requested that Advocate Sadavarte surrender the donkey to PETA India, where it can be housed in a sanctuary alongside other rescued donkeys. “We also urge you to encourage Advocate Gunaratna Sadavarte, who brought Max into the house, to surrender the donkey to PETA India for rehoming in a sanctuary with other rescued donkeys,” PETA stated, believing that such a move would also enhance Sadavarte’s public image.
