Bhuj: The Pride of India Review: A perfect watch to get you into the patriotic mood this Independence Day!

Story:

Bhuj: The Pride of India is a story of the 1971 India-Pakistan war. The film shows the story of IAF Squadron leader Vijay Karnik (Ajay Devgn) who ensured India’s victory by re-constructing the Bhuj airbase along with the help of 300 women from a local village in Madhapar.

Review:

The film features Ajay as Vijay Karnik, an IAF Wing Commander, who was in charge of the Bhuj airport during the 1971 war between India and Pakistan.

Despite all the facts it has been cleared by the makers right in the disclaimer that it is a work of fiction and inspired by true events. Now this justifies the dramatic approach to retelling history. Director Abhishek Dudhaiya has made sure we don’t miss JP Dutta’s classic Border.

Well if you keep the logic aside and look at it as the typical Bollywood film you will not find anything problematic in the narration. Though Abhishek Dudhaiya and Ritesh Shah did a tremendous job in screenwriting it could have been more mindful.

Some brave speeches in the first half give you a huge patriotic feeling. The film, however, grips you in the second half and keeps you intact.

Performance:

Ajay Devgn single handedly ruled the film. From his dialogue delivery to performance Ajay is undoubtedly the star.

Snajay Dutt on the other hand gives a fresh look. He gave us a major Sunny Deol from Gadar: Ek Prem Katha vibes. Fighting hundreds of Pakistanis with a mere axe.

Surprisingly Sharad Kelkar tries too hard but fails to impress. Sonakshi Sinha, also left no impact with very little screen timing.

Nora Fatehi also did nothing much except she look amazing.

Final words:
If you focus solely on the story then Bhuj is an interesting watch. The film is a perfect watch ahead of Independence day to get you into the patriotic mood.
