Koffee With Karan Season 8: Alia Bhatt Responds to Criticism of Ranbir Kapoor as ‘Toxic’ & others

The latest episode of Koffee With Karan’s eighth season sizzled with the electrifying presence of Bollywood’s reigning queens, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Alia Bhatt. In a candid conversation, Alia Bhatt addressed the perception that has emerged online about her husband, Ranbir Kapoor, being a ‘toxic’ husband. She shared anecdotes, including one where Ranbir asked her to remove her lipstick, believing her natural lips looked better, which was misinterpreted as Ranbir being controlling. Alia asserted that Ranbir is the complete opposite of what people perceive him to be.

Alia further explained that Ranbir’s preference for her natural look stems from his love for her authenticity and genuine beauty. She emphasized that Ranbir is a supportive partner who encourages her to be herself and celebrates her individuality. Alia’s heartfelt words shed light on the true nature of their relationship, dispelling the misconceptions that have surrounded them.

“I’ve been criticized for talking too much about Ranbir,” Alia confessed on Koffee With Karan. “Anything you say about him becomes a whirlwind of attention online,” Karan Johar observed, adding, “Is it because Ranbir isn’t on social media?” Kareena Kapoor Khan concurred with Karan’s assessment, and Alia nodded in agreement.

Alia continued, “I think so. I have a very open and honest way of speaking, and even when I’m talking about something personal, I tend to imitate the person I’m talking about, share anecdotes, and make it relatable. I feel like a lot of these things get taken out of context. This happened recently with a video and some other instances. My team advised me that things were getting out of hand, and I said, ‘Okay, fine, let it be.’ Genuinely, people have opinions and are entitled to express them.”

“However, when I noticed serious articles circulating that portrayed Ranbir as a controlling and toxic individual, I was taken aback. I thought to myself, ‘Are we seriously discussing this?’ There are far more pressing issues in the world that deserve our attention rather than misinterpreting my lighthearted remarks. It saddens me when people misinterpret my words because Ranbir is truly the antithesis of what these articles portray,” Alia explained.
