Bholaa First Weekend Collection: Ajay Devgn’s Bholaa has finally gathered steam at the box office on Sunday. The action thriller, which released in theatres on March 30, earned Rs. 13.48 crores net on the fourth day, according to Trade expert Taran Adarsh bringing its first weekend box office total to Rs. 44.28 crores.

Given the film’s below-average start at the box office with Rs. 10 crores on day one, followed by a sharp drop on day two with Rs. 8.80 crores, this rise in box office numbers with Rs. 12 crores on day three and Rs. 13.48 crores on day four indicates that the film is gradually gaining traction in mass circuits.

If it can keep up its momentum during the week, it has a chance to join the 100 crore club in the long run. There are no major releases scheduled for the next three weeks until April 28, so it will be interesting to see if Bholaa can capitalise on the box office freedom during that time. For the uninitiated, Bholaa has made the third highest opening in 2023 after SRK’s Pathaan, which grossed Rs. 57 crores on its first day (also the highest opening in Bollywood history), and Ranbir Kapoor’s Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, which grossed Rs. 15.73 crores on its first day.

Many eagerly anticipated films are struggling to break the Rs. 50 crore barrier at the Indian box office. Cirkus, starring Ranveer Singh, Shehzada, starring Kartik Aaryan, and Selfiee, starring Akshay Kumar, are prime examples of this. All three were high-budget, highly anticipated films that all failed miserably. Another factor that may have hampered the film’s success was the free availability of Kaithi’s Hindi dubbed version on YouTube. Hence many trade experts were quite skeptical about Bholaa’s box office success and there was a lot riding on it.

Bholaa is an official remake of Tamil action thriller Kaithi (2019), starring Karthi. Tabu, Deepak Dobriyal, and Gajraj Rao also play important roles in the film. The film sees Ajay Devgn in a titular role of Bholaa, who has just got out of 10 years of imprisonment. Bholaa is finally heading to meet his young daughter whose face he has not seen yet. But suddenly SP Diana Joseph (Tabu) requests him to transport a truck full of poisoned cops to the hospital in exchange for meeting his daughter after ten years of imprisonment.
