The iconic Sagar Pictures needs no introduction as its legacy enters with an ambitious new chapter called Shrimad Bhagavatam Part I: Vishnurata. It is a grand cinematic adaptation based on the Bhagavatam Mahapurana. Sagar Pictures Entertainment released the first teaser motion poster for the said film, which offers a subtle look as it is all set to come up with a seven-part theatrical franchise.

The first instalment, subtitled Vishnurata meaning “the one protected by Vishnu” will center on Lord Shri Krishna and explore themes of devotion, dharma, and the connection between humanity and the divine. The project marks a major milestone for the production house, bringing them back to the cultural storytelling that defined the banner following Ramanand Sagar’s landmark 1987 television series, Ramayan.
Moving ahead with the family tradition, Ramanand Sagar’s grandsons, Akash Sagar Chopra and Amrit Sagar Chopra, are co-directing the project. The brothers aim to combine heritage with modern filmmaking techniques, ensuring the narrative remains authentically rooted while delivering a high-caliber cinematic experience for global viewers.
Currently in its final stages of production, the film is being constructed with expansive production design and a distinct visual style. The choice to adapt the scripture into a seven-part saga gives the filmmakers necessary room to thoroughly explore complex philosophies, characters, and subplots without compressing the sacred source material into a single feature. The strategy also aims to introduce younger generations to foundational cultural stories through an immersive multi-film narrative structure.
Presented by Sagar Pictures Entertainment, Shrimad Bhagavatam Part I: Vishnurata is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release in 2027, complete with premium large-format screenings.
