Baba Siddique Shot Dead: Lawrence Bishnoi’s Gang Takes Responsibility; Security Heightened Outside Salman Khan’s Residence After Viral Threat
On the evening of October 12, 2024, a shocking event unfolded in India’s political and entertainment spheres. Baba Siddique, a prominent figure in the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and former Maharashtra minister, was tragically assassinated. The notorious Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang claimed responsibility for this heinous act. A Facebook post by a gang member, which quickly gained viral attention, suggested that the murder was linked to Siddique’s relationships with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan and underworld figures Dawood Ibrahim and Anuj Thapan. The post, written in Hindi, expressed their unwillingness for conflict with Salman Khan, but accused him of causing harm to their brother.
The post further elaborated on the transient nature of life and wealth, and the importance of fulfilling duties of friendship. It pointed out Siddique’s past connections with Dawood under the MCOCA Act and suggested that his death was a result of his intricate network of connections involving Anuj Thapan, Dawood, Bollywood, politics, and property dealings.The post concluded with a chilling warning to those who aid Salman Khan or the Dawood gang, stating that they should be prepared for consequences. It also asserted their policy of retaliation, not initiation, in conflicts.In the aftermath of the murder, two shooters were arrested who claimed affiliation with the notorious gang. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde confirmed the arrests, revealing that one suspect was from Uttar Pradesh and the other from Haryana. However, a third assailant remains at large. The attack on Baba Siddique occurred near the office of his MLA son, Zeeshan Siddique, in Bandra, Mumbai.
He was critically injured and rushed to the hospital after being shot two to three times around 9:30 pm. A total of six bullets were discharged near Zeeshan Siddique’s office, with four striking Baba Siddique in the chest. Authorities are treating the incident as a potential contract killing and have assembled four special teams to lead the investigation. Salman Khan visited Lilavati Hospital late on Saturday night to express his condolences and meet the bereaved family. In response to the assassination, security has been increased outside Salman Khan’s residence, Galaxy Apartment.The arrested suspects have been identified as Gurmail Singh from Haryana and Dharamraj Kashyap from Uttar Pradesh.
