We’ve seen filmmakers and actors constantly come up with fresh and innovative strategies to promote their films and set them apart from the other films. Now, the makers of Ayushmann Khurrana’s upcoming social comedy sequel Dream Girl 2 have devised a novel cross-promotion strategy, teaming with Salman Khan’s ‘Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’ to promote both films simultaneously.
Balaji Telefilms, the production company behind Dream Girl 2, has released a humorous video showcasing Ayushmann Khurrana’s character, Pooja, conversing with Bhaijaan. And as you guessed, this Bhaijaan is none other than Salman Khan.
Bhaijaan and Pooja have a hilarious and sweet-romantic conversation in the teaser. Bhaijaan is excited to see Pooja’s beautiful face and asks her to show her face. Pooja agrees to a video call, but just as Bhaijaan is about to catch a peek of Pooja, the power goes out. Bhaijaan expresses his disappointment by saying, “aurton ne mujhe hamesha andhere mein hi rakha hain, isi liye kunwara hi better hun” (Women have always kept me in the dark, which is why I am better single).
In the video, Ayushmann is disguised as a woman and impersonating a feminine voice. His whole face as Pooja, however, is not visible. Netizens are ecstatic over the new humorous promo. Dream Girl 2 by Balaji Telefilms is the sequel to the immensely successful film Dream Girl, which was released in 2019.
Interestingly, this is not the first time Dream Girl 2’s creators have used this novel cross-promotion tactic. We also saw Ayushmann’s Pooja conversing passionately with Ranbir Kapoor in their previous teaser video before the release of Ranbir’s Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar.
Aside from Ayushmann, Dream Girl 2 also stars Ananya Panday, Annu Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Asrani, Manjot Singh, and Vijay Raaz. The film will be released in theatres on 7 July 2023.
Meanwhile, Salman Khan is set to return as Bhaijaan with his masala action entertainer ‘Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’ which is slated to release this Eid and the film’s team has been doing everything they can to promote and generate hype around the film and it’s yet to be seen if this unique promotion strategy will help create the hype for the film.
