Auto Driver Who Helped Saif Ali Khan Says He’ll Accept a Rickshaw if Gifted but Isn’t Seeking a Reward

Bhajan Singh Rana, the auto driver hailed as a hero for assisting actor Saif Ali Khan, has shared his experience meeting the actor and receiving appreciation from him and his family. Despite growing calls for Rana to be rewarded for his actions, he has expressed that he does not seek any cash compensation. Rana was instrumental in getting Saif to Lilavati Hospital last week after the actor sustained six injuries in a knife attack at his home. Following five days of hospitalization, during which he underwent surgery to repair leaking spinal fluid and remove a piece of the knife near his spine, Saif was discharged on Monday and returned home.
In a recent interview with Instant Bollywood, Rana was asked if he would accept a new auto rickshaw if Saif were to gift him one. He replied, “I’m not asking for it, but if he chooses to gift it, I would gladly accept. I never claimed that I deserve any reward for what I did, nor am I doing this out of greed.” In a conversation with PTI, Rana mentioned that Khan had thanked him for his timely assistance and offered financial support, although he declined to disclose the exact amount. “Let people speculate about it,” Rana stated, emphasizing his promise to Saif to keep the details private.
Before Saif’s discharge on Tuesday evening, Rana met the actor’s family, including his mother, veteran actress Sharmila Tagore. He paid his respects by touching her feet and shared that the family treated him warmly, even taking photos together. “He (Khan) introduced me to his mother, and I touched her feet. He gave me whatever he felt was right and assured me that he would be there whenever I needed help,” Rana recalled. In related news, the Mumbai Police arrested the individual responsible for the stabbing incident on Sunday, and he is currently in custody.
