69th National Film Awards: Waheeda Rehman, Allu Arjun, Alia Bhatt, Pankaj Tripathi, and Others Honoured by the President for Their Achievements

President Droupadi Murmu presented the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award to screen icon Waheeda Rehman at the 69th National Film Awards ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on Tuesday. Rehman, one of the most celebrated actresses in Indian cinema, has starred in over 200 films in a career spanning over six decades. She is known for her performances in films such as Guide, Pyaasa, Kaagaz Ke Phool, and Trishul.

In her speech, President Murmu said that cinema is not just an industry limited to business and entertainment. It is also a powerful medium to educate and inspire people. She praised the film industry for its contribution to Indian culture and society.

Other winners of the 69th National Film Awards include popular stars Allu Arjun, Alia Bhatt, and Kriti Sanon. Arjun won the Best Actor award for his performance in the Telugu film Pushpa: The Rise. Bhatt and Sanon shared the Best Actress award for their performances in the Hindi films Gangubai Kathiawadi and Mimi, respectively.

The National Film Awards are the highest film awards in India and are presented annually by the Directorate of Film Festivals, an organisation under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The awards are given to films in various languages, including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada.
