Article 15

Directed by Anubhav Sinha (‘Mulk’), the film Article 15 is in talks these days. The anticipated date set for the release of the film is June 28 release.  Ayushmann Khurrana’s character says as revealed in the teaser of Anubhav Sinha’s Article 15, depicts the role of the actor as a police officer and the story subjects to be based on “shocking true events”.

The film gets its title from Article 15 of the Constitution of India which keeps away the State or any citizen from discriminating anyone based on their religion, race, caste, sex or place of birth.

The teaser released showed Ayushmann Khurrana playing as a police officer. It also contains glimpses of the burning statue of BR Ambedkar, setting different vehicles on fire, and sufficient mob violence perpetrated by the men carrying saffron and blue flags.

Anubhav had previously described the film, Article 15 as “an investigative drama where the audience too is an accused party”. But, with the teaser going live, there are several other aspects of the Article 15 that are definitely going to be touched via this film. Ayushmann Khurrana called the project as the “most balanced film based on communalism and extremism”. He also stated that the film is definitely going to be a true challenge to justify his role wrapped in and around several events of communalism. However, Sinha’s previous film Mulk (2018) revolved around the story line of Islamophobia and went to be a critically acclaimed film.

The cast of the film, Article 15 includes prime faces like- Isha Talwar, Manoj Pahwa, Sayani Gupta, Kumud Mishra, M Nassar, Ashish Verma, Sushil Pandey, Subrajyoti Bharat and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayub. The film is set for a June 28 release.
