Anurag Kashyap bats for Shahid Kapoor starrer – “Kabir Singh”
Just when we see the debate around the politically correct films getting snowballed in the media with Kabir Singh in its helm of the affair, we see veteran filmmaker announcing his support for the movie. People are making the actors responsible for the roles they reprise in the B Town films. Hence it has created a much buzz around the Shahid Kapoor film Kabir Singh where he portrayed a competent surgeon who is pitted with issues like drug addiction and alcoholism.
Hence many went against the film castigating Shahid Kapoor for the film. But there were a few who came in the support of the film including the one with Shahid Kapoor movie Kabir Singh. These people certainly include Anurag Kashyap. Talking about the same, he said that it is vital to have such stories on the silver screen that can make people think and remain uncomfortable.
He such a film will exist and come while it should co-exist claimed the filmmaker. He further said such films cannot be thrown out from the B Town as these would remain the part of our cinema. Talking further on the film, he said that Kabir Singh’s story is relevant to urban life in a big way and it showcases 80 per cent of urban life. He concluded saying that if he disagrees with such films, he would prefer not to watch it rather making an issue out of them. The filmmaker has given many such movies including Gangs Of Wasseypur and feel that being politically correct will not often help.
