He is a known actor, producer and filmmaker of Bollywood who has stayed in this industry from last two and half decades giving some of the best movies. He was born on 24th December 1956 in Mumbai. He went to Our Lady of Perpetual Succor High School in Chembur for for his schooling, while for his college, he headed to St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai. He is married to Sunita Kapoor and has two daughters and a son, which include the style icon Sonam Kapoor. The other daughter is in New York and is also a filmmaker, while his son is a student.

Since he comes from a strong film background, getting into Bollywood wasn’t that big challenge for him. He therefore made his debut with Umesh Mehra’s movie called Hamare Tumhare in 1979 in a cameo, while for the lead role, his debut was seen with a South Indian movie Vamsa Vruksham. He was seen in a couple of south Indian movie before returning to Bollywood with a film Mashaal in 1984, which gave him his first Filmfare award for best actor for a Bollywood movie. His next hit was Tezaab in opposite Madhuri Dixit, which was a big blockbuster over the box office in 1988. This followed another hit in 1992 called Beta. Some of his best movies in his earlier days included Woh Saat Din, Mr. India, Karma, Janbaaz, Jung, etc.

In the late nineties, the movies like Taal, Biwi No.1, Virasat, etc, has given him nominations at some of the award functions giving the best supporting actor for Biwi No.1. His next movie Pukar released in 2000 gave him a National Film Award for Best Actor category along with other movies like No Entry, Welcome, Race and the Sequel of Race too were applauded for his incredible performance over the silver screen. Apart from working in a number of Bollywood movies, he was also seen in certain overseas project, which included the Oscar Winning film Slumdog Millionaire. He was even awarded with Screen Actors Guild Award for his Outstanding Performance in this film. Apart from this, he was even seen in small screen in a TV series called 24, which was aired in Colors. His performance for playing a character of an intelligence officer was applauded one and all.

Apart from being an accomplished actor, Anil Kapoor also tried his luck as a producer making a couple of movies as well. His debut movie was a comedy Badhaai Ho Badhaai wherein he was also in the lead star role. This followed another called My Wife’s Murder in 2005, Gandhi My Father, etc. His latter film gave him an award from National Film Award under special jury category. He then produced Shortkut starring Akshay Khanna and Arshad Warsi. In the year 2010, he produced Aisha starring hsi own daughter Sonam in opposite to Abhay Deol. The movie was an average grosser over the box office. He then got the rights for the remake of an American TV series 24, which he produced with the same title, which turned a big hit over smaller screen.

Besides, Anil Kapoor was even seen singing and doing playback singing. One of his earlier songs include from the film Chameli Ki Shaadi. The very same decade (80’s), he gave his voice for the song Tere Bina Main Nahi Mere Bina Tu Nahin for the movie Woh Saat Din. He also did a song I Love You for the film Hamara Dil Aap Ke Paas Hain. In the year 2008, he was seen rendering a rhyme dialogue in order to introduce his character in the film Tashan. The title was Bhaiyaji Ka Tashan. The music was composed by Vishal-Shekhar. As far as awards are concerned with a number of national and overseas award, which include the one called Hiru Golden Film Awards in Sri Lanka in 2014 wherein he was there along with others like Sunil Shetty, Vivek Oberoi, Neha Dhupia and Bipasha Basu. Now talking about his upcoming movies ,it includes Dil Dhadakne Do and the sequel Welcome Back, which will be hitting this year.
