Ratings:  *  *  *

Cast: Ragini Dwivedi, Prashant Narayanan, Rajpal Yadav, Kavita Radheshyam, Pooja Misrra, Aanjjan Srivastava, C.R.Gopi

Directed By: Faisal Saif

This multilingual  film Amma draws curiosity for various reasons such as it’s writer and director Faisal Saif whose last film Main Hoon Rajinikanth still battles in court with superstar Rajinikanth while he jumps back with his latest political thriller titled Amma (No prizes in guessing the Target). Sandalwood superstar Ragini Dwivedi donning the image of an actress turned politician in the film and last but not the least, The film’s producer Dr.C.R.Manohar who is a politician himself. Not to forget, Manohar’s last very much expensive Upendra starrer Shivam (In Kannada) sank at the box office without a trace. The daredevil producer continues to make films and is keeping lots of hopes on Amma and Shivraj Kumar starrer Vajrakaya.

Faisal Saif, However denied any similarities between TN-CM Jayalalitha and his latest film Amma. “My film is not based on anyone in any which ways. Amma is a purely commercial film with great performances. Please leave me alone on this” said Saif.

The trailer starts off with Steven Spielberg’s Munich’ish kind of Opera and shows a dead body of a girl child who is raped and murdered. We see acclaimed actor Prashant Narayanan investigating the case and making an arrest. But the man who is arrested is none other but Rajpal Yadav. Yes! This time, Rajpal Yadav the ace comedian looks as if he will sweep this year’s all awards with his never-seen-before look in the film! You have to see it to believe!

Kannada star Ragini Dwivedi looks the next big thing in Bollywood. After Asin, Tamannah, Taapsee, Ragini is the one who will stay here longer! Watch out!

The trailer also shows alluring Kavita Radheshyam doing a Barkha Dutt style along with Ex Bigg Boss diva Pooja Misrra in her full on ‘Bigg Boss’ anger!

If i go by the curtain raiser, Amma is an Art House cum Commercial cinema cum dark story which talks about Rape, Murder and some Brutality. If i go by the News sources, Amma is an inspiration of Jayalalitha. The trailer still keeps me curious!

High Points: Rajpal Yadav (For sure), Prashant Narayanan, Ragini Dwivedi, Some burning issues
Low Points: The Curtain Raiser is too short in the duration!
