Bio – The name of Amitabh Harivansh Bachchan is synonymous to many things. Right from a stalwart actor of Bollywood with a man with incredible voice and persona, he could be known for various things. Starting his career as the angry young man in a number of Bollywood movies, Amitabh Bachchan has come a long way playing different roles in the industry. These include actor, producer, politician, brand ambassador of many businesses and a legend in many ways. He is termed as one of the most influential and incredible actors in the Indian cinema and has dominated the regime of 70’s and 80’s with his incredible films coming in a regular interval of time. This was the reason, why one of the French directors – François Truffaut termed him as a “one-man industry.
Peeping into his early life and background, he hails from Allahabad (UP) and his father Harivansh Rai Bachchan was a popular Hindi poet, while his mother Teji Bachchan had keen interest for theatre, which also gave her one role in a movie, which she however, denied over her domestic duties. Her interest led Amitabh Bachchan to struggle for his film career. She always encouraged him to come over the pedestal of Indian cinema and play his part being an ace actor. His struggle to pursue his career of acting finally led him a for one of the National Award winning movie called Bhuvan Shome, wherein he was just a voice narrator, however, his debut movie as a mail lead was Saat Hindustani. He then gave a number of good hits like Anand, Parwaana, Reshma Aur Sheera all in 1971, while other similar hits too were seen coming in a frequent interval of time including the comedy – Bombay to Goa, Guddi, Bawarchi, etc.
His stardom commenced in the year 1973, wherein he was seen giving a number of hits till 1983. Some of his popular movies included Zanzeer, Abhimaan, Namak Haram, Roti Kapda Aur Makaan, Majboor, Chupke Chupke, Faraar, Mili, Deewaar, Sholay, Dostana, etc. Interestingly, all these movies are diverse in theme and storyline, but his performance in these simply impressed the audience and critics from all the quarters of Indian Cinema. With number of hits at one row, Amitabh become one of the leading and richest movie stars in the Bollywood industry. The late 80’s and 90’s saw some dull movies coming from Amitabh. During the same phase, he was seen trying his hand in many things including embarking with his own production house ABCL (Amitabh Bachchan Corp Ltd), which eventually collapsed producing few bad movies. He was also seen active in Politics, but couldn’t do much in this domain.
Post 2000 proved fruitful for Amitabh when he entered in the TV world doing his debut program as main anchor in Kaun Banega Karorpati. This program steal all the show and Amitabh Baccchan got a great comeback after being proved flopped as a producer and actor. And till date, you can see him continuing on this Game Show. Meanwhile, he also kept coming in different films, which gave him some good role in films like Ek Rishtaa: The Bond of Love, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Aks, Aankhen, Khakee, Dev, Black, Bunty aur Babli, Baghbaan, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, Baabul, Ekalavya, Nishabd, Cheeni Kum, Saarkar, Pa, etc. In his career, he has won all the major awards including National award as best actor and slew of other words. Besides, he is also the brand ambassador of many products and businesses both India and abroad.
