Wiki : This man is a known face in Bollywood for his incredible performance in a number of movies like Gangs of Wasseypur, Talaash, Badlapur, Kick and the list goes one. He was born and brought in small town close to Muzaffarnagar in UP in a Muslim family of farmers. He brought in a big family of nine siblings – seven brothers and two sisters. After doing his schooling from his town, he headed to Haridwar, Uttarakhand to do his Bsc from Gurukul Kangri University. After completing his studies, he worked in a small petrochemical company as a chemist for a while, however, soon gave up since he was not enjoying his job. He then headed to Delhi got admission in the National School of Drama (NSD) in 1996 in theatres.

After graduating from NSD, Nawazuddin Siddiqui headed to Mumbai the city of dreams to pursue his dreams of acting in B Town in 2004. His initial days of struggle were simply the worst for him as he was not even able to pay the rent. However, his career in Bollywood started with Aamir Khan Starrer movie Sarfarosh. This gave him only a couple of stereotype roles, which he declined and soon was seen joining NSD. After 4 years he was back to Bombay trying his luck in TV, but failed to get any response. Somehow, he managed to get smaller roles in movies like Munna Bhai MBBS followed by The Bypass. With few smaller roles, the work, which helped him to get recognition in the industry was Anurag Kashyap’s movie Black Friday in 2004, where he gave some of the best performance for his first lead role followed by another in a movie called Patang wherein he played the character of a wedding singer called Chakku.

This movie gave him international exposure as it was screened in a number of film festival including Berlin Film Festival and Tribeca Film Festival. His performance was applauded in these festivals. Since then it was no looking back as he kept on getting a couple of good roles in a number of movies. These include Kahani, Peepli Live, Paan Singh Tomar, Gangs of Wasseypur I and II, Talaash etc. Some of his recent movies, wherein he gave his best performance include – Badlapur, Kick, The Lunchbox, and Bombay Talkies. As far as awards are concerned, he is one of the actors in B Town, who won every award where he was nominated. These include the National Award (Special Jury Award) for Talaash in 2012. And for the same role, he got awards at Zee Cine Awards and Screen Awards.

For Gangs of Wasseypur, Nawazuddin Siddiqui won two awards – Lions Gold Awards 2012 and Stardust Awards for supporting actor category. For Dekh Indian Circus, he bagged the Award for Best Actor for New York Indian Film Festival. For the movie The Lunchbox, he bagged two awards including Filmfare Awards and Renault Star Guild Awards for the category of Best Actor In A Supporting Role. As far as his personal life is concerned, he is married and has a daughter called Shora. He simply loves to play badminton and even wanted to make his career in this sport however, due to his knee injury he had to give up this idea.
