Superstar Yash announced that he will be donating Rs 1.5 crore to over 3000 cinema workers in the Kannada film industry. The KGF star took to his social media handle to announce the news amid the COVID-19 crisis. Rs 5,000 will be credited to each of their bank accounts this month to help them during the pandemic. However, the actor in his note said that this is not a permanent solution but at least a ray of hope during these tough times.
Since the coronavirus outbreak in Indian last year, the daily wagers have been suffering a lot to meet their basic needs. Yash’s donation of Rs 1.5 crore will help workers in Sandalwood.
Yash’s note read, “Covid 19 has proved to be an invisible enemy that has dismantled the livelihoods of innumerable people across our country. Our own Kannada Film fraternity has been badly affected as well. In light of the grave times we live in, To each of the 3000 odd members which include all the 21 departments of our film fraternity, I will be donating from my earnings, a sum of Rs 5000 to their personal accounts. While I am very well aware that this may not serve as a solution to the loss and the pains caused by the situation we are in, it’s a ray of hope, since it’s HOPE that is the certainty of faith, Faith of better times (sic).”
Meanwhile, on the work front, the actor is waiting for the release of his much-awaited film KGF Chapter 2. Directed by Prashanth Neel the film is slated to release in theatres on July 16. However, looking at the current scenario it is unclear that if the makers will postpone the release of KGF: Chapter 2 due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Along with Yash, KGF: Chapter 2 also features Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon, Srinidhi Shetty, Prakash Raj and Achyuth Kumar in pivotal roles. The film is produced by Hombale Films.
