Alia Bhatt’s Ex Assistant Arrested For Cheating Her Of Rs 77 Lakh
Alia Bhatt's former personal assistant has been arrested for cheating the actor of Rs 77 lakh.

Vedika Prakash Shetty, the former personal assistant of Bollywood starlet Alia Bhatt, has been detained by Juhu police for allegedly robbing Bhatt of Rs. 76.9 lakh in a startling breach of trust. The actress’s personal pocketbook and her business, Eternal Sunshine Productions Pvt Ltd, were both impacted by the May 2022–August 2024 scam.
On January 23, 2025, Alia Bhatt’s mother, seasoned actor-director Soni Razdan, filed the complaint. A case was officially filed under the criminal breach of trust and cheating sections. After conducting investigations, the Juhu police launched a worldwide manhunt for Vedika, who eluded capture for almost five months.
Ultimately, earlier this week, Shetty was apprehended at her sister’s home in Bengaluru and swiftly returned to Mumbai on a transit warrant for additional judicial procedures.
According to police, Vedika created fictitious invoices and overstated expenditure claims for meetings, travel, and logistical arrangements during her 2021–2024 employment. She ensured that the documents looked genuine by using software of the highest caliber. The money was sent to an accomplice’s account once Alia’s signature was obtained, and the accomplice subsequently returned the money to Vedika.
Vedika had special access to Bhatt’s schedules and funds because she was a close adviser and the former secretary. Concern concerning the susceptibility of well-known individuals to internal financial deceit has grown as a result of the purported fraudulent conduct.
in the moment, Vedika is being held in the Juhu police station. Authorities are closely investigating her involvement in the plan and locating the alleged co-conspirators who assisted in the money diversion. Charges under Sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating), and maybe the Information Technology Act for electronic document forgery are anticipated by legal experts.
Bollywood has been rocked by the case, which has brought attention to the necessity for more stringent internal controls and financial audits in both personal management and productions. Celebrities and companies are being advised by attorneys and accountants to implement strong verification procedures for invoices and payments to third parties.
