The film adaptation of the Indian epic has been in the spotlight for several years now, but it’s in recent months that substantial updates have started to emerge. According to reports, Ranbir Kapoor has been cast as Ram, Sai Pallavi will portray Sita, and Yash will take on the role of Raavan. While the filmmakers are tight-lipped about the progress of the film, they are determined to meet the speculated deadline of next year.

According to a report by Pinkvilla, Ramayana is scheduled to begin filming on April 2nd, with the shoot taking place in Mumbai. A source close to the production revealed, “Nitesh Tiwari and his team are all set to start shooting for Ramayana from April 2 in Mumbai. A set has been created at Film City, which marks the beginning of this divine film. The set represents a Gurukul, and it has been combined with a green screen to enhance the post-production process.”

The first schedule will feature child artists playing the roles of Ram, Laxman, and Bharat. It will also include Shishir Sharma, who is reportedly portraying Guru Vasishtha in Ramayana. Ranbir Kapoor is expected to join the shoot by mid-April. The entire film will be shot from April to July, with Sunny Deol and Yash likely to join the production at a later stage.

It has also been revealed that Ramayana is most likely to be released during Diwali 2025, with the official announcement of the film set to be made on Ram Navami (17th April). Namit Malhotra, Nitesh Tiwari, and Yash are teaming up as joint producers for this grand project.
