Plot:
The plot of the film deals with a struggling street photographer Rafi played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui who is, based in Mumbai and works hard to pay his old family debt. However, his grandmother played by Farrukh Jaffar wishes to see him married. She then puts pressure on him to find a suitable match. He then shows a picture of a shy stranger called Miloni played by Sanya Malhotra to her grandmother as her fiance. She then wants to meet her fiance. Milioni is convinced about her fake relationship despite all their differences between the two. The entire story is based in Mumbai, and it showcases the beauty of the city as well in the movie, so, how it goes and what happens the next is interesting to explore.
Review:
The film is directed by The Lunchbox fame director Ritesh Batra and Photograph, we have the same one line story pattern converted into a film. He has tried to club the beauty of the city from the nineties with no cell phone culture and bringing out the old soft drink Campa Cola making many nostalgic about the golden old days. Talking about the performances, Sanya Malhotra in the role of Miloni is magic on the silver screen thus beating her role in Dangal with Photograph. Nawazuddin Siddiqui is the same as always, and he gets the essence of the character with his performance thus outshining his acting skills once again with his natural innocence.
His dialogues with a pause seemed subtle somewhere proving as a cherry on the cake. On the other side, Farrukh Jaffar playing grandma of Rafik too has an excellent role to play. Talking about the direction part, the filmmaker has the expertise on making such genre nicely and has once again proved with Photograph. This film becomes more visually appealing with a perfect implementation. The real essence of the film is its music by Peter Raeburn that goes perfect match for the narration. The other elements like a screenplay, editing, photography and other elements also went smooth.
Photograph Movie Review – The Last Word
With all said and done, the film Photograph comes along with innocence that is hard to catch in the modern day cinema. The performances of the lead actor and the perfect direction scores the point, however, if you have the taste of catching a one-liner movie, then it is a perfect choice for this weekend.
