Earlier this month, the popular Btown portal Bollywood Hungama reported that the promo for Sky Force, initially expected to be attached to Stree 2, has yet to be unveiled. While the teaser launch for the film has been delayed, it was also indicated that its release may be postponed. The latest update reveals that the multi-starrer action aerial entertainer, featuring Akshay Kumar, Sara Ali Khan, Nimrat Kaur, and others, has now been pushed to January of next year.
Sky Force is set against a patriotic backdrop, which led the makers to initially choose October 2, Gandhi Jayanti, as the film’s release date. However, it appears this is no longer feasible. Reports suggest that the filmmakers are now targeting a release around the 76th Republic Day on January 26, 2025. This information was shared by journalist Rahul Raut on X (formerly Twitter), although no official confirmation has come from the production team yet.In a prior report from the said site , a source from the exhibition sector elaborated on the decision to delay the film’s release. “The film has been pushed back and will not be hitting theaters on October 2. Akshay Kumar, given the performance of his recent films at the box office, is looking to revitalize his career before diving back into shooting Sky Force. The makers want a gap between Akshay’s releases,” the source noted.
If this schedule holds, the first weekend of October will be free of any Bollywood releases, allowing for the highly anticipated Hollywood film Joker 2, officially titled Joker: Folie à Deux, to stand alone at the box office. This sequel marks the return of the DC supervillain franchise, featuring Joaquin Phoenix reprising his role as the Joker and Lady Gaga as the iconic Harley Quinn.Regarding Sky Force, the film is a war drama directed by Abhishek Anil Kapur and Sandeep Kewlani. Produced by Maddock Films and Jio Studios, it not only reunites Akshay Kumar with his Airlift co-star Nimrat Kaur and Atrangi Re co-star Sara Ali Khan but also marks the acting debut of Veer Pahariya.
