Akshay Kumar tested positive for Covid-19 for the second time

Akshay Kumar, who will star in the historical film Prithviraj, which will be released on June 3, has tested positive for Covid-19 for the second time.

Akshay announced on Twitter that he will be unable to accompany the team of cinema personalities led by Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur to the Cannes Film Festival.

“Was really looking forward to rooting for our cinema at the India Pavilion at #Cannes2022, but have sadly tested positive for Covid,” Akshay Kumar said in his tweet on Saturday night. “Will rest it out. Loads of best wishes to you and your entire team, @ianuragthakur. Will really miss being there.”

Along with music legend A.R. Rahman, actors R. Madhavan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Nayanthara, and Tamannaah Bhatia, filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, Censor Board chief Prasoon Joshi, and two-time Grammy winner Ricky Kej, Akshay Kumar was set to walk the red carpet at Cannes 2022.

In April of last year, the actor tested positive for Covid-19. After being in home quarantine, Akshay Kumar had to be hospitalised as a precautionary measure.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Akshay Kumar will be seen in Yash Raj Films’ Prithviraj. The film also stars Sanjay Dutt and Sonu Sood. Beauty queen Manushi Chillar will be making her bollywood debut in this film opposite Khiladi Kumar. Besides this film, Akki has a lot of film in his kitty.
