Talking in an exclusive conversation on a major media platform, Rajeev Khandelwal has unveiled a lot on his preparations for the role, the joy of working with Pradeep Sarkar and not to forget the eye-catchy chemistry with co-star Divyanka Tripathi.

On being asked about his comeback in the digital world and about the show, Coldd Lassi Aur Chicken Masala, Rajeev said, “The way the story has been told by writers and directors, it should be very refreshing for all of you. There are two different worlds that are diametrically opposite to each other. That is the beauty of the show. It’s going to be very interesting. I haven’t seen the web series but the scenes have been written very beautifully and a lot of credit should go to the writers, to the creative team. They have worked for a year and a half to get the script right. So, I would say that people would love it. It has turned out very well.”

On being questioned on his sparkling and pretty evident chemistry with Divyanka Tripathi for the show, he said, “Nothing. I used to grab Divyanka, pin her down and then hug her so tight that the chemistry kind of took over. I had to ensure that Divyanka felt comfortable in my company. And I made sure from Day 1 that we do not have too many inhibitions. This is not the show that comes in the bold category. It’s very bold in terms of approach, you have to be intimate, touchy. It’s a very different kind of romance that one would relate to because when you are in love with somebody you are touchy, physical. Intimate scenes are not just physical, but also mental level intimate. All that intimacy physical as well as mental is an inherent part of the series. With the help of workshops, we got familiarised with each other. Then I think a lot of credit has to be given to Pradeep Sarkar. Because the way the scenes were written and the way he used to execute, it’s so beautiful.”

Throwing light on his character, Rajeev added, “Till the time the web series did not go on the floors, I was struggling with the idea. How would I go about it. How would I play a champu? One thing I knew was that somewhere I have a comic timing. It’s just that I have played so many intense characters in the past that people who don’t know me don’t visualise me like that.”
He further added, “Dada (Pradeep Sarkar) came handy. The first time I was shooting with dada, I did something very instinctive and the moment I got a scream from dada that ‘yes exactly what I want’, it gave me a lot of confidence that ok we are at the same wavelength. And then it was really enjoyable. He made me feel so wonderful that while doing the scenes, everything went so organically.”
