At a recent cybercrime awareness event organized with the Mumbai Police, Akshay Kumar made a heartfelt and powerful appeal about the growing dangers of online threats. Known for his support of social causes, the actor spoke candidly about the urgent need to educate children on internet safety.
During his address, Akshay revealed a disturbing personal experience involving his young daughter, Nitara. He shared how she became a target of online harassment while playing a video game. “A few months ago, my daughter was playing a video game where you can play with strangers,” he recalled. “Suddenly, she received a message asking, ‘Are you male or female?’ She replied ‘female.’ Then the stranger sent another message saying, ‘Can you send me nude pictures?’ It was my daughter. She immediately turned off the device and told my wife.
Akshay highlighted that such incidents are far more common than many realize, especially among children and teenagers who spend considerable time online. He explained how predators often begin with seemingly innocent conversations before revealing harmful intentions. “This is how it starts. This is also a form of cybercrime,” he emphasized.
Appealing directly to authorities, Akshay urged the introduction of regular cyber safety lessons in schools. “I request the Chief Minister of Maharashtra to introduce a weekly ‘cyber period’ for students in grades seven to ten, where children are taught about online safety. Cybercrime is growing faster than street crime, and it’s critical to stop it,” he stressed.
Akshay’s emotional speech not only shed light on the alarming rise of digital crimes targeting minors but also demonstrated his proactive commitment as a parent and responsible citizen.
