After The Railway Men, YRF Entertainment Announces Tunnel Men Based on 2023 Uttarakhand Rescue

Following the critical success of The Railway Men, YRF Entertainment the digital content wing of Yash Raj Films is set to bring another extraordinary real-life survival story to screens. Their upcoming series, titled Tunnel Men, is inspired by the heroic 2023 Uttarakhand tunnel rescue mission that gripped the nation.

The series centers on the high-stakes operation in November 2023, when 41 construction workers were trapped inside the collapsed Silkyara tunnel for over two weeks. The story will highlight the incredible grit, complex engineering, and collective human spirit that ultimately brought every worker home safely.

Tunnel Men will be co-directed by Ambiecka Pandit and Manan Rawat. Bringing creative continuity to the project, Shiv Rawail director of The Railway Men—returns as the showrunner. Pre-production and writing are currently underway, with the team focusing on recreating both the emotional weight and the sheer physical scale of the rescue effort.

This project marks the first major release under Saugata Mukherjee since taking over as Head of Content at YRF Entertainment, working alongside CEO Akshaye Widhani. Continuing their fruitful partnership with Netflix, which previously yielded The Romantics and The Railway Men, the brand-new series will premiere exclusively on the global streaming platform.

YRF Entertainment’s debut series, The Railway Men, earned widespread praise for its portrayal of unsung heroes during the 1984 Bhopal Gas Tragedy, starring Kay Kay Menon, R. Madhavan, Divyenndu, and Babil Khan. With Tunnel Men, the studio continues its commitment to producing high-impact, real-life human dramas that honor courage against impossible odds.
