Adil Hussain Replaces Milind Soman in Lakadbaggha 2: The Monkey Business

In a notable casting update that highlights the evolving landscape of Indian cinematic universes, acclaimed actor Adil Hussain has joined Lakadbaggha 2: The Monkey Business, stepping into the role of the sensei, replacing Milind Soman. The much-anticipated sequel is scheduled for release later this year.
Just as global audiences are familiar with iconic characters being reimagined by different actors think James Bond, Superman, or Spider-Man—Indian cinema is embracing this trend, with the Lakadbaggha universe leading the way. Hailed as the world’s first animal lover vigilante universe, Lakadbaggha wrapped filming for its sequel in June 2025, following an ambitious expansion that saw lead actor Anshuman Jha take on directing duties.
Known internationally for his role in Life of Pi, Adil Hussain takes on a significantly expanded role in the sequel. Lakadbaggha 2: The Monkey Business promises a darker, sharper, and action-packed storyline, with the sensei character playing a crucial part in the protagonist’s journey. The film is set to be a martial arts action spectacle boasting an international ensemble including martial arts legends Sunny Pang (Headshot, Havoc) and Dan Chupong (OngBak).
The Indian cast features Sarah Jane Dias, Vikram Kochar, and Anshuman Jha reprising his role as Arjun Bakshi—the ordinary man turned animal-loving vigilante.Adil Hussain shared, “Watching Lakadbaggha 1 was incredibly inspiring. It felt like a film that truly stood up for animal rights—something we haven’t seen perhaps since Haathi Mere Saathi in the seventies.
Working with Anshuman both as a director and co-actor has been a great experience. The martial arts training and action sequences were challenging, but Anshuman’s support has been wonderful. I’m truly honored to be part of the Lakadbaggha franchise.”Adding richness to the expanding mythology, the Lakadbaggha comic book universe, launched last year, continues to grow alongside the film series, reinforcing its ambition to become a multi-format Indian action universe with global appeal.
Lakadbaggha 2: The Monkey Business is set for a mid-2026 release, promising the next thrilling chapter in a franchise that combines action, conscience, and animal welfare into a unique cinematic identity.
