The famous Mumbai-based artist Ram Indranil Kamath found dead at his home in Mumbai on Wednesday. According to the Mumbai Police reports he committed suicide on Thursday. Kamath, who was also known as Ramchandra, died at the age of 41.
The Matunga police stated yesterday that a popular painter was found unconscious in a bathtub at his residence located at Mumbai’s Matunga at around 3 pm. He was then immediately taken to the Sion Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. Police had initially registered an accidental death report and started an investigation on this case. A post-mortem was also conducted on the body.
He was, reportedly, under stress since long and the Pandemic worsened the situation. On July 13 he posted a photo with his dog which turned out to be his last post. The artist friends and family are shocked and saddened by the news.
Mumbai Police spokesperson confirmed today that the artist had committed suicide. The cops have also recovered a suicide note. N Ambika, spokesperson, Mumbai Police said, “Famous artist Ram Indranil Kamat committed suicide at his home in Matunga on 19th August. A suicide note was also found. Matunga Police has registered ADR and investigation is going on,”.
Ram Indranil Kamath was unmarried and stayed with his mother and sister at Palai House on Shankar Mattham Road Mumbai.
Kamath did not blame anyone for his death in the purported suicide note, the official said, adding that statements of his family and friends would be recorded.
