Acclaimed filmmaker Sooraj R. Barjatya has decided to join forces with Newcomers Initiative to launch new faces in Rajshri Productions’ upcoming project. The new project will be backed by Rajshri Productions in association with Jio Studios and Mahaveer Jain. The rest of the details about the film are under wraps.
This exciting news follows the recently reported collaboration with Jio Studios, Rajkumar Hirani Films, and Mahaveer Jain to introduce two new actors through a feature film as part of the Newcomers initiative.
With this unprecedented project, more than 23 of the nation’s top filmmakers have banded together to mentor, launch, and encourage emerging talent. The forthcoming production will be Rajshri Productions and Mahaveer Jain’s second time working together after their successful partnership on the film Uunchai (2022).
The film Uunchai, which marked Sooraj Barjatya’s return to film direction after seven years of sabbatical, starred an ensemble cast of Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Danny Denzongpa, Parineeti Chopra, Neena Gupta and Sarika. The film was written by Abhishek Dixit, based on an original story by Sunil Gandhi.
It relates the tale of three retired friends who, in order to achieve their dying friend’s final wish, climb to the Everest Base Camp. Along the way, they learn the true meaning of freedom and life.
Meanwhile, Rajkummar Hirani is currently working on the production of his upcoming film Dunki starring Shah Rukh Khan in the lead. The film, which also stars Taapasee Pannu, is scheduled to be released in theatres on 22 December 2023.
