Aamir Khan Appeals to Fans: Say No to Piracy Before Sitaare Zameen Par Release

As Aamir Khan prepares for the highly anticipated release of his film Sitaare Zameen Par on June 20, he has made a sincere plea to audiences to refrain from watching pirated versions of the movie. In an interview with News18 Showsha, Khan addressed the pressing issue of piracy and its detrimental effects on the film industry, particularly for the individuals who invest their time, emotions, and creativity into the filmmaking process.
Describing the situation as “really sad,” Aamir elaborated, “When you watch a pirated version of a film, you’re unknowingly causing a lot of harm. Many people don’t realize the impact.” He emphasized the ethical implications of piracy, stating, “If you wouldn’t steal a TV, then why is it acceptable to watch a pirated movie? It’s the same thing.”
Having dedicated three years to the development of Sitaare Zameen Par, Khan underscored the collaborative effort of the entire cast and crew behind the film. “The emotions and hard work of these 10 kids, Genelia, Prasanna, the writer, each head of department, and myself—all of it is in this film. We want people to watch it the right way, not through piracy,” he explained. Aamir also confirmed that measures are being implemented to combat illegal sharing of the film, stating, “We’ll be hiring agencies to help prevent and reduce illegal sharing of the film.”
Aamir Khan’s statement comes at a critical time, particularly with recent films like Sikandar facing piracy leaks shortly after their release. Industry insiders have voiced concerns over the escalating issue, which not only affects box office revenues but also undermines the integrity and message of the films.
Directed by R.S. Prasanna, Sitaare Zameen Par is a sports comedy-drama and serves as a spiritual successor to Khan’s acclaimed 2007 film Taare Zameen Par. It is also the official remake of the 2018 Spanish film Champions, featuring real actors with Down Syndrome in key roles. The film stars Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh in leading roles and is produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit.
