Yami Gautam, who earlier starred in the Disney Plus Hotstar film Bhoot Police, is back with a new film, A Thursday, created in cooperation with the OTT platform. The film comes off as a gripping thriller filled with heart-pounding thrills, almost like a spiritual sequel to the classic A Wednesday. On Thursday, the film’s makers released the first official trailer.
A teaser released on Thursday promised an exciting drama with strong thriller elements. In the film, the actor looks to be portraying an anti-hero. For the time being, it appears that Gautam’s character, Naina, has a dark side, with secrets buried deep within her psyche that threaten to destroy the country. In the two-minute trailer, we see Naina, a school teacher, taking 16 students from her kindergarten hostage. She then makes a threatening call to the police (enter Neha Dhupia and Atul Kulkarni), about wanting to speak to the Prime Minister (Dimple Kapadia). If the police and the prime minister do not yield to her demands, Naina speaks that she would shoot her students in “alphabetical order”.

Perhaps the best thing about the trailer for A Thursday is that it doesn’t reveal too much in its promotional video. For now, we will have to wait a while to find out Naina’s motive behind this deadly step.

This is Yami Gautam’s second film after marrying Uri: The Surgical Strike director Aditya Dhar last year. Directed by Behzad Khambata and produced by Ronnie Screwvala, A Thursday will premiere on Disney Plus Hotstar on February 17.
