This Friday, we had two movie releasing the theatre, which include Gour Hari Dastaan – The Freedom File starring Vinay Pathak and Konkana Sen Sharma. The film is based on the life of a unknown freedom fighter who had to fight for more than a decade to get his recognition in the society. This makes the film as a biopic attracting only the niche audience for the film. Though content and performance wise the film seems to be good in terms of critics’ point of view, however, it has failed to attract audience to the theatres.
The content seems dry though suitable to the theme of Independence Day, yet the audience is more attracted towards Masala movies and with Brothers coming with it, the competition becomes tough. Let’s not forget the other movies hitting in the past few weeks including Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Bahubali, which seems to be coming in its way. As per reports, the first day box office collection for Gour Hari Dastaan – The Freedom File tolls to around 80 lakhs, which is an okay figure as one cannot expect much from films like these. The film is expected to see some surge in the coming weekend, however, expecting much could be lethal for the filmmaker.a
