Ajay Devgn-Starrer Ranger Pushed to 2027; Avoids Box Office Clash
Ajay Devgn is gearing up for his upcoming thriller Drishyam The Conclusion, scheduled to hit theaters on October 2. Following the success of Dhamaal 4, this will mark the veteran actor’s second film release of the year. However, his tentatively titled jungle adventure, Ranger, co-starring Sanjay Dutt and Tamannaah Bhatia, will no longer meet its original December 4 release date.
Industry sources confirm that the movie has been official postponed to 2027. The makers plan to release the film after Eid, targeting a summer release window around March or April 2027. Given its action-adventure theme set in a forest, the summer holiday season is considered an ideal time to attract students and family audiences.
With Ranger moving out of the December 4 slot, the box office will now witness a different clash. Director Anees Bazmee’s untitled comedy starring Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, and Raashii Khanna is set to release on that date alongside Shraddha Kapoor’s Eetha. Meanwhile, Prabhas’ period action drama Fauzi was also rumored for early December, but trade experts expect it to be pushed to 2027 as well.
As a result of the delay, Ajay Devgn will have only two film releases in 2026. Directed by Jagan Shakti and produced by Luv Ranjan, Ranger stars Devgn as a dedicated forest officer fighting to protect tigers against corrupt officials, an inefficient team, and a dangerous poaching syndicate led by Sanjay Dutt.
The film’s climax was recently filmed in Mumbai, with plans to shoot a special dance number featuring Devgn and Tamannaah Bhatia. Producer Luv Ranjan highlighted that despite working together for 25 years, Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt have never starred in a full-fledged action film together, making Ranger a highly anticipated project for fans of both actors.
