CBFC Clears 120 Bahadur Without Any Cuts; Makers Opt for Strategic Limited Release

The Farhan Akhtar-starrer 120 Bahadur is set to release on Friday, November 21, 2025, and has already garnered attention for its authentic portrayal and compelling subject, as seen in the trailer. In an unusual move, paid previews were held nationwide on Tuesday, November 18, ahead of the typical Thursday preview day. According to industry sources, the film’s producers, Excel Entertainment, and distributors, AA Films, have adopted a strategic approach for its release.
Instead of a wide release, the film will open on a limited number of screens—around 900 to 1000—targeting cinemas frequented by its core audience, which includes elite viewers and those interested in quality, content-driven cinema. The distributors plan to skip or limit screenings in mass-dominated single screens, multiplexes, and B and C centers, focusing instead on venues where the film’s niche appeal will resonate best. This strategy allows flexibility to expand showings over the weekend or weekdays if demand grows.
This approach also avoids direct competition with Mastiii 4, releasing the same day and aimed at mass audiences. The two films are expected to cater to different viewer segments, with Mastiii 4 targeting mass centers and hinterlands, while 120 Bahadur focuses on a more selective audience.

No Cuts from CBFC

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has passed 120 Bahadur without any cuts. Earlier concerns arose when the film’s trailer replaced the dialogue “Ahir hai hum” with “Fauji hai hum,” leading to speculation that the film itself would be censored similarly, which sparked criticism online. However, the final film retains the original dialogue.Despite being a war drama, the CBFC’s Examining Committee did not request any visual cuts, as the action scenes are neither excessively graphic nor disturbing.

The film was granted a U/A (13+) certificate on November 6.The censor certificate lists the film’s runtime as 137 minutes (2 hours and 17 minutes). This careful certification and targeted release strategy reflect the makers’ confidence in the film’s quality and their intent to reach the right audience effectively.
