Manoj Bajpayee’s Ghuskhor Pandit Controversy Escalates to Courts; Netflix Reconsiders Release

A big news coming out here as the OTT giant – Netflix is grabbing the eyeballs. Trouble continues to mount for Manoj Bajpayee’s film Ghuskhor Pandit. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has reportedly directed state law enforcement to file an FIR against the director, producers, and members of the film’s team, intensifying the challenges facing the project.

The teaser trailer of Ghuskhor Pandit—which translates to “corrupt priest” has sparked nationwide protests. Numerous organizations and individuals have demanded an immediate change to the film’s title, labeling it “casteist” and offensive.

The Sarva Brahmin Mahasabha in Jaipur has strongly condemned the title, asserting that the controversy goes beyond cinema, reflecting a troubling caste-based mindset they find unacceptable. In Bhopal, Brahmin community members have taken to the streets, protesting against the film and calling for the trailer’s removal. They have warned of nationwide agitation if their demands remain unaddressed. The issue has reached the judiciary as well, with a Public Interest Litigation filed in the Delhi High Court challenging the film’s title.

Amid the escalating backlash, Netflix has reportedly removed the teaser and promotional materials for Ghuskhor Pandit. Earlier rumors suggested a possible title change; however, sources now indicate that Netflix may drop the film entirely from its slate.
