5 best web series from Ekta Kapoor on her birthday

Ekta Kapoor has once again proved that she is one of those who can simply rock any of the show space. Right from daily soaps to the OTT world, she has been successful in almost all drives of work. After ruling the small screen Saas-Bahu shows, Ekta Kapoor has created a simply exotic drive in the web space starting from Nimrat Kaur-starrer The Test Case to Rajkummar Rao’s Bose Dead/Alive.

The Test Case

Ekta Kapoor’s first-ever web series and one of her best-ever was The Test Case, starring Nimrat Kaur in the lead role, directed by Nagesh Kukunoor and Vinay Waikul. This series revolves around the first woman in a combat role or the Test Case, Shikha Sharma. Apart from Nimrat, the show cast included: Juhi Chawla, Akshay Oberoi, Manit Joura, Atul Kulkarni, Rahul Dev, Anup Soni among others.

Haq Se

This one was a tale of the Mirza sisters and their attempts towards finding peace and happiness along with keeping their passions alive despite of the tough military, political and religious tensions of Kashmir. Inspired from Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women, the series is directed by Ken Ghosh and unravels the diverse layers of problems these simple characters undergo. The series stars Surveen Chawla, Rajeev Khandelwal, Parul Gulati, Aanchal Sharma, Simone Singh, Pavail Gulati and Rukhsar Rahman.

Bose Dead/Alive

Starring Rajkummar Rao in the lead role, this is one definitely an artistic and super proud series from the bag of Ekta Kapoor. The strong performance delivered by the actor has fully supported the gritty story line. The storyline revolves around  Subhash Chandra Bose’s presumed death after a plane crash in Japanese-occupied Formosa (now Taiwan) on 18 August 1945. However, his family living in Kolkata receives a telegram from Mahatma Gandhi to not conduct his last rites.


The best thing about this Ekta Kapoor’s Alt Balaji series is the cast including, Annu Kapoor, Supriya Pilgaonkar, Amol Parashar, Parikshit Sahni and Chetna Pandey. Directed by Habib Faisal, the show revolves around Sethis, a family who believe in their values and find happiness in little things but, an eviction notice by authorities lets their life turn upside down.

Kehne Ko Humsafar Hain

This has been one of the most viewed web series of Ekta starring Mona Singh, Ronit Roy and Gurdeep Kohli in the lead roles. The show was appreciated for its path-breaking content and its portrayal of a woman in a never-seen-manner, earlier. The story revolved around a seemingly happily married couple Rohit and Poonam with their two teenage daughters, Bani and Nikki. While everything appears perfect on the surface, Rohit firmly hides his affair with Ananya but, later gathers courage to spill the beans about his affair to his wife. The family’s reaction, Ananya’s feeling and society’s perception forms the crux of the entire show.
