Plot

Meet Sushant Singh Rajput a young Muslim porter called Mansoor at Kedarnath who while taking Mandakini aka Mukku played by Sara Ali Khan fall in love. The girl is young and feisty who lives in Kedarnath with her family. She is the daughter of Nitish Bharadwaj who happens to be a local priest. So, when the couple falls in love with each other, things turn sour and complicated. Though one may find the story of the inter-faith romance remains the core of the film, it also deals with the natural calamity waiting to happen in the form of floods. The couple survives proving their love against nature’s wrath. So, what goes next would be interesting to catch in the nearby theatres.

Review

The film though showcases a similar kind of love story, but adding the natural calamity that devastated the state around Kednarth in Uttarakhand in the year 2013 seems to make the story different. The screenplay, therefore, has its own good and bad points but the kind of drama and love showed in the film in the backdrop of the catastrophe seems interesting. The incredible drone-assisted photography has given things perfect allowing the audience to enjoy the picturesque locations getting the artistic and crisp visuals. The story by the director and Kanika tangibly showcases the secular fabric of the country where even Muslim porters respect and honour the pilgrims coming to the temple of Hindu and other communities. Also, the makers have touched the commercial aspect of this place, which has hampered the ecological balance of this place by building hotels and malls for tourists attraction.

However, the focus remains precisely over the love story, and we see some of the best moments shared by the couple in a beautiful environment becoming a treat to our eyes. Now talking about performances, Sara Ali Khan is just a live wire and somewhere refreshes her mom’s roles in movies like Chameli Ki Shaadi and Betab. Despite her first film, she was incredible in her performance and has given the best over the silver screen. In fact, she went on to overshadow the performance of Sushant Singh Rajput in many ways. Sushant however, has given a decent performance and perhaps gave the lady more opportunities to perform well over her debut venture. Otherwise, we have seen the actor giving some of his incredible performances over the silver screen. The music, the song and other elements too went smoothly for the movie helping to gain a good entertainment value. The story though remained predictable, but the way it has remained under the water makes all the difference.

Kedarnath the last word
The way the film was made and executed along with the stellar performance of Sara has created the film float. It can be a good weekend watch if you want to give a fair chance to Sara Ali Khan to be an emerging Diva of B Town. The story though remains predictable but adding the natural calamity with water has made all the difference.
