Zakir Hussain’s Family Shares Heartfelt Post on His Instagram After His Passing: ‘Forever Together in Love’

On Sunday, the family of the late tabla maestro Zakir Hussain shared an emotional post on his official Instagram account, marking the first post since his burial at a San Francisco cemetery. The heartfelt tribute featured an undated black-and-white photograph showing Zakir’s hands intertwined with those of his wife, Antonia Minnecola, and their daughters, Anisa Qureshi and Isabella Qureshi. The accompanying caption read, “Forever together in love ❤️,” with all four family members tagged.

Fans and admirers of Zakir Hussain flooded the post with heartfelt messages. One fan expressed gratitude, saying, “Thank you for guiding and inspiring us all. Very grateful for your mentorship and teachings.” Another commented, “Thank you, Zakir, for your profound inspiration, and to the family that supported his dreams.” Many others echoed similar sentiments, with comments like, “Feels good to see a post from this account. A legend always lives,” and “Gone but never forgotten.” One user poignantly remarked, “Ustad ji, your legacy will continue to live on for generations!”Zakir Hussain passed away in a San Francisco hospital early last week due to complications from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a serious lung disease.
He was 73 years old. Widely regarded as one of the world’s most accomplished percussionists, he was laid to rest at Fernwood Cemetery in San Francisco on Thursday, attended by hundreds of admirers who came to pay their last respects. Renowned drummer Sivamani and several other musicians performed a tribute a short distance away during the funeral.Zakir Hussain, the son of tabla legend Ustad Alla Rakha, had a remarkable career spanning six decades, earning him four Grammy Awards, including three at the 66th Grammy Awards earlier this year. He was honored with the Padma Shri in 1988, the Padma Bhushan in 2002, and the Padma Vibhushan in 2023, solidifying his legacy as one of India’s most celebrated musicians.
