The nationwide lockdown seems to have created a mess when it comes to B Town film releases. Many of the makers are now relying on OTT rather than thinking about releasing the film on the big screens. The lockdown getting extended has made many filmmakers give a second thought on this. As per reports, the latest to join into this discussion is the director Shoojit Sircar who is ready with his next film Gulabo Stabo starring Big B and Ayushmann Khurrana.
First we heard about the film 83 and then Laxxmi Bomb which is decided to be released on the OTT platform and now the film Gulabo Sitabo director also saying that he is open to rely on the OTT platform instead of releasing it on the big screen. Talking about the same, the director in his interview to the leading newspaper in Mumbai said that he is open to release the movie on a digital platform if the lockdown continues after 3rd May. The next lockdown announced would be much to do with the release of the film.
He made it clear that he has a couple of other projects lined up this year which include the biopic movie of Sardar Udham Singh with Vicky Kaushal in the leading role. The shooting of the movie is complete and the movie has reached the post production phase, which was slated to release on 21st Jan 2021. He said that it has been his dream project and was often touched with the events like the shooting at Jallianwala Bagh. He said that post lockdown, the people will be more interested in investing in small screen and home theatres rather than the big screen releases.
