Why Did the Drishyam 3 Hindi Teaser Miss the Release Date- October 2? Here’s Why

We know how for the fans of Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam franchise, October 2 has always held special significance. Thanks to way it has woven into the story’s suspense and anticipation. Many expected the Hindi teaser for Drishyam 3 to drop on this date, especially since a reportedly ready teaser (about 1 minute 25 seconds) was rumored. However, the much-awaited reveal never happened.
According to a Mid-Day report, the delay wasn’t just due to unfinished background music, as producer Kumar Mangat Pathak initially suggested. Instead, it’s tied to creative agreements between the Hindi adaptation team and the original Malayalam filmmakers. Writer-director Jeethu Joseph and producer Antony Perumbavoor, who have managed the franchise since its inception with Mohanlal, reportedly retain control over the timing and manner of content releases for the Hindi versions.
On the Malayalam front, Drishyam 3 is already underway. Mohanlal began filming the crime drama on September 22, with the official announcement soon after. Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn’s Hindi adaptation, directed by Abhishek Pathak, is slated to start shooting only in December. Shortly after Mohanlal’s update, the Hindi team announced an October 2, 2026 release date, which reportedly upset the Malayalam producers, leading them to invoke adaptation clauses to control the rollout.
Adding to the tension is the directorial shift. Initially, all three versions—Malayalam, Hindi, and Telugu (starring Venkatesh)—were planned to be directed by Jeethu Joseph, with a simultaneous global release on October 2, 2026. But after the blockbuster success of Abhishek Pathak’s Drishyam 2 (2022), producer Kumar Mangat pushed for his son to direct the Hindi sequel, diverging from the original plan. This reportedly caused creative friction, with Antony Perumbavoor and Jeethu Joseph prioritizing the Malayalam film’s release ahead of the Hindi version.
As things stand, both versions of Drishyam 3 are progressing—Malayalam filming is underway, and the Hindi version is gearing up for production. Fans eagerly await clarity on whether the story of Georgekutty and Vijay Salgaonkar will unfold in a coordinated manner or if the Malayalam conclusion will arrive before the Hindi adaptation.
