Perhaps the first same-sex love story was Dostana released way back in 2008 by Karan Johar. However, at that time the subject seemed sensitive to handle so he did with care without opening much about it as we see in films like Dostana 2 or the upcoming movie of Ayushmann Khurrana’s film Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan. This has therefore made a comparison between the two films as they somewhere deal with gay lovers.

The fans of both the actors are seen making comparisons between the two movies, Kartik was therefore seen talking about the same. While breaking his silence, he dismissed all the similarities people are seen drawing with the two films. He said that both the films may appear with a gay lover but they are completely different from each other. Talking about the same he said that both the films have different story-lines and they are two different movies.

He what is more important is the subject which the two different filmmakers have chosen to make their respective movies. He further added saying that he is glad that these films have started the conversation around the subject that has remained a taboo in many ways in our society. He said that these films will open up ways to make such stories for their future movies. These will make things smooth and remove the hurdles coming in the ways of progressive filmmakers. The film Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan featuring Ayushmann Khurrana will release on 21st Feb 2020, while Dostana is expected to hit next year.
