Welcome Actor Mushtaq Khan Reveals Kidnapping Ordeal After Sunil Pal’s Incident

Days after comedian and actor Sunil Pal reported his kidnapping, it has emerged that actor Mushtaq Khan also experienced a similar ordeal. Shivam Yadav, Khan’s business partner, revealed that Khan was kidnapped on November 20. According to Yadav, Khan was invited to participate in an awards show in Meerut, but upon arriving in Delhi, he was taken in a car that was supposed to transport him to the event. Instead, he was driven to a location near Bijnor, where he realized he had been kidnapped. Yadav noted that Khan initially had no suspicions since he had been paid in advance for the show and had received flight tickets.
Yadav shared with India Today Digital, “Mushtaq sir and his family were completely shaken by what happened to him. However, he was determined to file an FIR once he gathered himself. Yesterday, I went to Bijnor and filed an official FIR. We have proof of the flight ticket, bank account details, and even CCTV footage from near the airport. He also recognizes the neighborhood and even the house where he was held. I believe the police team will catch the culprits soon.”

Tortured and Ransomed

Yadav further revealed that Khan was tortured for 12 hours and the kidnappers demanded Rs. 1 crore for his release. Ultimately, they managed to extract Rs. 2 lakh from both Khan’s and his son’s bank accounts. Khan found an opportunity to escape early in the morning when he heard the azaan (call to prayer) from a nearby mosque. He fled to the mosque, sought assistance, and returned home with the help of the police. Mushtaq Khan is widely recognized for his roles in Anees Bazmee’s iconic comedy Welcome and the recent blockbuster Stree 2.

Similarities to Sunil Pal’s Case

Recently, Sunil Pal recounted a similar experience, claiming he was kidnapped and released after paying Rs. 7.5 lakh to his captors. When asked if he suspects a potential syndicate targeting celebrities, Yadav responded, “We had no prior knowledge of such a situation. After Mushtaq sir returned, we discussed the incident with a few close friends. When Sunil’s case gained media attention, they informed us about it. It’s shocking that two public figures from the industry have endured such similar experiences. We hope for greater awareness and protection in the future for everyone.” Reports indicate that Khan plans to address the media in the coming days.
