Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri is preparing for the third installment of his trilogy, now titled The Bengal Files: Right to Life, which is set to be released in theaters on September 5, 2025. The decision to rename the film was finalized by the makers, including Abhishek Agarwal, Pallavi Joshi, and Agnihotri. This upcoming release follows the previous films in Agnihotri’s “Files” trilogy, namely The Tashkent Files (2019) and The Kashmir Files (2022).
The Bengal Files delves into the communal violence that occurred in undivided Bengal during the 1940s, focusing on significant events such as Direct Action Day and the Noakhali riots. Agnihotri has labeled these incidents as a “Hindu genocide,” aiming to illuminate this often overlooked chapter in Indian history.

The film boasts a stellar cast, featuring Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, and Pallavi Joshi in pivotal roles. Despite facing challenges during production, including safety concerns that necessitated filming in Mumbai instead of Kolkata, Agnihotri and his team have successfully completed the project and are eager to share this vital story with audiences across the nation.
A teaser for the film was released a few months ago, showcasing veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty in a haunting first look. In the teaser, he is seen walking through an empty corridor with a rugged appearance and a white beard, reciting the Preamble to the Constitution with a burnt tongue.
