Popular Kannada actor Kiccha Sudeep, renowned for his roles in films such as Eega (2012) and Vikrant Rona (2022), recently sparked a controversy after news of his joining the BJP went viral on social media. The actor also allegedly got a threat letter threatening that his private videos would be leaked online.
According to a TV9 Kannada report, the actor got some letters that used derogatory language against him and threatened to release his private videos. Kichcha Sudeep has filed a complaint at Puttenahalli Police Station under sections 506 and 504 of the Indian Penal Code.
Sudeep disclosed to the media at the Bengaluru airport on Wednesday that he already knows the name of the person who sent him such a derogatory letter. “Yes, I received a threat letter, and I know who sent it to me.” I also know it was written by someone in the film business. They know who I am and where I live, so they mailed the message to me. I’ll get everything out. “I will respond appropriately,” he assured the media.
Meanwhile, Kiccha Sudeep has denied joining any political group. However, the thespian backed Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai in the poll-bound state of Karnataka. During the press conference, the actor stated, “I am not entering politics. I am here to support CM Bommai & will campaign wherever he tells me to campaign. I am a citizen of this country, pay my tax & as a citizen, I like certain stands taken by PM Narendra Modi. I am not here to contest polls”.
Kiccha Sudeep was last seen in Kannada pan Indian period gangster film ‘Kabzaa’. Released on 17 March 2023, in Kannada, along with the dubbed versions of Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam, the film received mixed to negative reviews from both critics and the viewers and failed at the box office.
