Vidya Balan has given her fans a lot to be thankful for throughout the years. Monjulika in Bhool Bhulaiyaa is one of Vidya’s most-loved characters to date, thanks to her provocative roles and top-notch performances in films like Kahani. The film’s sequel, featuring Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani, will be released this year by filmmaker Anees Bazmee. While there has been no word on whether or not the original actors will return, there is some good news!
Vidya Balan will play Monjulika in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 as it turns out.
A trade insider, according to a recent report in Mid Day, reacted on the situation and said, “Their (Vidya and Anees) equation goes back to 2011, when Vidya made a cameo appearance in Anees’s film Thank You. She made the character of Monjulika, ghost of a royal dancer, memorable. [It is not clear if] Vidya will be seen dancing to Aami je tomar again or appear after the climax.”
The news of Vidya’s return as Monjulika, on the other hand, isn’t just a rumour. The portal’s director, Anees Bazmee, acknowledged the development. Calling Monjulika his “favourite character”, Bazmeed said, “If the film is Bhool Bhulaiyaa, she has to be there in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. Let the rest be a surprise!”
We can’t wait to see Vidya’s character Monjulika on the big screen in whatever form she takes. Bazmee has included two songs from the first 2007 film, as well as Akshay Kumar’s black kurta with bandana on the head and rudraksha beads look in the sequel.
