Vidya Balan to play role of Indira Gandhi in upcoming web series

Vidya Balan has already layered up her fan following with her very recent film, ‘Mission Mangal’. Very soon she is going to make her digital debut making an entry into the web series world under the direction of  ‘Lunchbox’ and ‘Photograph’ director Ritesh Batra.

As per sources, this web series is going to be based on the book ‘Indira: India’s Most Powerful Prime Minister’ written by Sagarika Ghosh that casts the events of the life of the powerful Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi.

Considered to be a biopic, the web series will be depicting the various phases and challenges of the life of Smt Indira Gandhi. It is known to highlight her journey from a normal lady to one of the strongest prime ministers of India.

Vidya has taken her social media handles and also the various media talks to highlight on the same. She has now put up a lot ahead relative to the news on the web series and its works that are already underway.

Even during the promotion of ‘Mission Mangal’ Vidya mentioned a lot about her upcoming digital works, “I am trying to do a web series, which is based on the life of Indira Gandhi. I feel doing a web series involves a lot of work. A lot of people associate themselves with it as compared to making a film. So, it takes a lot of time. But when I will do it, I will make sure that it turns out really well.”

Vidya has even been known to have bought the rights to this Sagarika’s book in order to create the web series.

However, it is still anticipated but, isn’t clear who all will be making up for the rest of the cast but, it’s quite likely that Vidya Balan will be made in line to essay the role of Indira Gandhi.

This upcoming web series will be produced by Ronnie Screwvala.
