Why Vidya Balan Left the Kamla Das Biopic?

As per the latest buzz, the Kahaani 2 actor Vidya Balan is no more the lead actor of the biopic film made on the life of Kamala Das. She may have her own reasons but as per the director of the movie, it was not just the right wing pressure that gave the exit of the actress. The director while talking on the issue said that the story of Kamala Das is much larger than anyone who happens to be the core team of the project. Now the film will be made without Vidya Balan and they are likely to soon announce a new lead in a few weeks.

It was the last minute exit by Vidya Balan, which kept the makers clueless. And the makers feel that it was not merely right-wing pressure reason as they think Kamala Das finally proved too controversial for her to play. They didn’t like the way she did an exit waiting that long to take the decision to opt out when they film was almost ready to hit the floor. Her exit went very unprofessional as she did not even communicate her decision directly to the director Kamal. He was in the dark about her decision to quit until he got a cursory call from one of team members of Vidya Balan claimed the director.

Until then, she simply cancelled two schedules without indicating her unwillingness to do the film. Is this the way to announce your exit from a film for which you were preparing eagerly for the last one year? The source claims that the director had even hired a Malayali coach to work on Vidya’s Malayalam lines. “She was keen on playing Kamala until a month ago. She was working on her Malayali accent and on Kamala’s personality traits. We don’t know what happened. Perhaps after six to seven successive failures in Hindi, going into a regional film would’ve sent the wrong signal to her Bollywood producers.” All this made them to react saying that Vidya Balan did some highly unethical and inappropriate act. She has left us in the lurch when we were ready to shoot. But we will make the film as it happens to be his dream project.
