Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Sardar Udham Singh’ Release Date Announced
Inspired by the real-life story of Udham Singh, who was a revolutionary rebel belonging to the Ghadar Party, Shoojit Sircar is busy working on his upcoming biopic. The film is totally based on the legendary legacy of Sardar Udham Singh. Till date there had been several revelations about the film however, the final release date was still in the pipeline.
Very recently, talking to a media platform, the director of the film revealed that Sardar Udham Singh is all set to release on 2 October 2020, next year.
Shoojit Sircar’s biopic Sardar Udham Singh will thus, be released on October 2, 2020. Produced by Rising Sun Films, the movie depicts the traces of the heroism of Udham Singh, who was the master mind for the assassination Michael O’Dwyer, the Governor of Punjab when the Jallianwala Bagh massacre took place in 1919. Singh shot Dwyer dead in London on March 13, 1940 and later Singh was hanged to death on July 31, 1940.
The revolutionary rebel has previously inspired the Punjabi film Shaheed Udham Singh, which was released in 1999. Raj Babbar played the role of Singh, while Gurdas Mann played as Bhagat Singh. Sircar’s film stars Vicky Kaushal in the lead role of Udham Singh. The screenplay for the film is done by Ritesh Shah and Shubendu Bhattacharya.
Sardar Udham Singh marks Kaushal’s first collaboration with Sircar, who has directed a number of box office hits like Vicky Donor (2012), Piku (2015) and October (2018).
